Choose One: HOPE or FEAR

A friend went to her doctor in Brownwood yesterday and thought to bring some reading material to pass the time in the waiting room. She had her library book by Vincent Bugliosi. Her doctor was curious and asked her what it's about. She told him it is the author's case showing that our soon-to-be ex-president could and should be tried for murder as a result of his actions against innocent people in Iraq. He seemed quite surpised and asked if she is supporting Barack Obama for president. She said, of course. He then asked her, "AREN'T YOU AFRAID OF THE MUSLIMS?"

I'm tempted to make an appointment with that doctor and bring along some reading material of my own. Maybe something like the Office of Management and Budget Report from the US Government. He can see some REAL things to be afraid of. Then, when he asks me if I'm for Barack Obama, I too will say Yes. When he asks me, "Aren't you afraid of the Muslims?" my answer will be, "Muslins? Are you kidding me? I'm afraid of 4 more years of this country swerving into a cavernous ditch! I'm afraid of no healthcare. I'm afraid for America's reputation abroad. I'm afraid for our broken education system. I'm afraid of our stupid obsession for other people's oil and the things we do to make it our own. Yes, I'm afraid of a lot of things, but really, Muslims don't even make the list."

Gee, she didn't sound like a terrorist to me...

Michelle Obama is one TERRIFIC lady! Her speech at the Democratic National Convention in Colorado last night was a wonderful introduction to her family. I hope all those silly-headed nah-bobs in Brownwood and elsewhere who believe she is really a terrorist took the opportunity to watch.

I was talking to a friend yesterday, who told me that Sunday night she was out and about and happened to overhear a conversation about the upcoming election. She heard a woman say that under no circumstances could she vote for Barack Obama. The reason: He has a secret agenda. According to her, he will fill the cabinet with Muslim terrorists (after all, everyone knows that terrorists are dying to take over America). I asked my friend how on earth she was able to keep herself from SCREAMING at the woman--"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND????!!!!!!!! Do you not have a scintilla of common sense???????!!!!!!"

I guess it's best I don't get out much. I would probably be pepper-sprayed regularly.

Obama and Biden: The Green Team

Barack's choice for Vice-President is being universally praised by environmental advocates.

Joe Biden has an 87% lifetime score in voting on environmental issues, according to Environment America, and an 83% score by the League of Conservation Voters. He's sponsored numerous bills to reduce air pollution, including the carbon dioxide that causes global warming. He's supported a windfall profits tax on oil companies, energy efficiency improvements for cars and a requirement that electric power utilities use more renewable energy.

Obama/Biden will be the strongest executive team for clean energy and a clean environment in American history.

Obama/Biden--A Winning Team!

I just finished watching Barack Obama introduce his choice for his running mate. I couldn't be happier with his pick. Senator Joe Biden is the best possible compliment to Obama. I can hardly wait for Election Day!!!

Cone of Silence My Ass...

Saturday evening, Rick Warren’s Faith Forum presented Barack Obama and John McCain being interviewed by Pastor Warren (“The Purpose Driven Life”). Each candidate was given one hour with Rick and posed the same questions. Obama won the toss and so went first. John McCain was supposedly sequestered in a soundproof room, unable to hear the conversation. Turns out that McCain, rather than being tucked away in a cone of silence was traveling in his motorcade. Hummm. That may just explain how quickly he was able to come up with answers to some very thoughtful questions. Of course, the answers were sound-bites from his many town hall meetings to the faithful. Like everyone’s old uncle, everything reminded him of a story. Being McCain, they all had to do with his incarceration as a prisioner of war.

More remarkable than his not actually being sequestered is his story about the guard drawing a cross in the dirt. It could have been lifted straight out of Alexander Solzhenitsyn and his times in the Soviet Gulags. Judge for yourself:

"As Solzhenitsyn stared at the Cross drawn in the dirt his entire perspective changed. He knew he was only one man against the all-powerful Soviet empire. Yet he knew there was something greater than the evil he saw in the prison camp, something greater than the Soviet Union. He knew that hope for all people was represented by that simple Cross. Through the power of the Cross, anything was possible."

Note to John McCain: You are a genuine war hero. You do NOT need to borrow stories from others and present them as your own. It makes you look like a fibber and a fibber is not what America needs for her next president.

Which is the Most Important News Story of the Week?

1) Once presidential candidate and now private citizen, John Edwards had an extra-marital affair in 2006. It was a very foolish and cruel thing to do.

2) Our current President of the United States, George W Bush, and his Vice President were told a month before we invaded Iraq that there were no weapons of mass destruction. Yet, they elected to go to war anyway and pretend they didn't know.

Truth or Fiction?

FOX News last week reported that things are going so great over there in Fallujah that they've actually opened a Kentucky Fried Chicken store. Isn't that wonderful? Even retired Tommy Franks commented on how it's an indication of the great progress made in that part of the world.

You know FOX says "We report, you decide." Well, I decide that KYC story is a BIG FAT fib! The Kentucky Fried Chicken world headquarters says that they have NO store in Fallujah.

Aren't you tired of the foolilshness that passes for news at FOX?
